  1. Girl and the Goat

809 W Randolph St

Girl and the Goat is one of those must-try restaurants in the area, part of Chicago’s famous Restaurant Row. There is often a wait for Iron Chef Stephanie Izard’s first restaurant. The Top Chef winner offers accessible American fare as well as daring cuisine in this community-friendly restaurant. They offer seasonal flavors, handcrafted cocktails, and locally brewed beer.

  1. avec

615 W Randolph St

Mediterranean food has never been better with a Midwestern twist in this chic little restaurant flowing with rustic flavor. Plates are made to share because you will want to try some of everything. Wine is served by the bottle and glass, delectably paired with dishes such as slow-roasted pork shoulder with piri piri broth. Come in on a Tuesday when bottles of wine are half-off. Since avec is across the street, it’s hard not to become a regular.

  1. Proxi

565 W Randolph St

Appropriately named (as it sits in close proximity to Catalyst Chicago), Proxi has an approachable, neighborhood feel to its streetfood-inspired offerings from executive chef Andrew Zimmerman. Global fair blends well as it takes your mouth on a delicious adventure inspired by Zimmerman’s travels.

  1. Omakase Yume

651 W Washington Blvd Suite #101

This rare independent restaurant in a world of corporate chains is a breath of fresh, ocean air with some of the best sushi around Chicago. Chef Sangtae Park devoted himself to Japanese cuisine as a young boy in his coastal town of Busan in South Korea. This Michelin star restaurant is sure to wow with a 16-course tasting menu prepared specifically by Park.

  1. ROOH Chicago

“An amalgamation of regional Indian flavors and modern gastronomic techniques.”

This quote, taken directly from their website, sums up ROOH very nicely. This restaurant pushes the boundaries of Indian cuisine with tandoori-smoked pork belly and sea bass wrapped in banana leaves. Head Chef Sahil Sethi brings the culture of his home country of India to Chicago’s doors, giving you the option to walk out of your door and into his world.

These 5 downtown Chicago restaurants are minutes away from Catalyst Chicago, with dozens more in the West Loop and surrounding areas waiting for you to explore them by foot.
